Netflix published the goop lab, a series about Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website for women, with a little space for men, too. It’s a behemouth in the fashion, beauty, and health and wellness world, with an estimated 2 million visitors per month. The series highlighted not just the website, but the company’s culture that included mindfulness retreats where staff ate magic mushrooms and other unusual events. Paltrow was able to create a cult following for her company, and reinforced it with a series of episodes that showed how she and her team also participated in the lifestyle choices of their target audience. She is of course, a famous actor with a huge following. So the obvious question is, can anyone create a CBD cult following in this space as she has done?
CBD Has a Cult Following Already
You’ve no doubt seen the frenzy of companies looking to get into the CBD space. The market was valued at $570 million in 2018, and it’s only going to grow. There are already a number of CBD stocks, too. People are trying CBD oil tinctures, CBD gummies, and a host of other products made with this ingredient. Despite its lack of the psychoactive chemical, THC, people swear by its healing effects. CBD itself has a cult following, and a few companies have figured out how to carve out a niche within this growing community. If you want to create a tribe around your business, then keep reading.
How a CBD Company Can Stand Out Today
With so much competition, it may seem like it’s impossible to stand out from the competition. But, it can be done. Start your cult following by building a tribe around your product that’s inclusive of your current customers. If you don’t have any customers, then offer people samples of your product that they can compare to other CBD offerings. If they like your product, and your company—and you, then they just might turn into repeat buyers and advocates for your product. They’ll tell their friends, and over time, you too can have a loyal following. I’ll end with a list of good advice that is as true today as it has been for centuries:
- Offer a great CBD product
- Provide great customer service
- Listen to your customers
- Get your product into the hands of influential people
- Be transparent
